1.1. Chemical Refining of Oil. Chemical refining is the traditional method used since ancient times. It can be used for all fats and oils even when they have been slightly degraded. Each step of the refining process has specific functions for removing some undesirable compounds. Chemical refining follows six processes:
- What is rapeseed oil refining process?
- Towards this, the crude rapeseed oil needs refining treatments to remove undesirable ingredients and produce higher quality oils [ 5 ¨C 7 ]. Traditional rapeseed oil refining processes generally involve four successive operations: neutralization, degumming, bleaching and deodorization.
- How is rapeseed oil obtained?
- Rapeseed oil was obtained by cold pressing in a laboratory hydraulic press (Sirio, Mikodental, 10-ton strength, 40 MPa maximum pressure) at room temperature. The procedure was done in triplicate. Upon pressing, oil samples were immediately analyzed.
