However, most tropical oil refining plants apply physical refining, and cannot simply be refitted to accommodate a chemical refining approach. The pre-steps at harvest and pressing are not considered within the FEDIOL measures, which is unfortunate as these early upstream steps may be decisive in terms of efficacy to lower especially the MCPDEs.
